This is an original from Al Baker having the oak wood frame. Four spectators are asked to think of a four figure number without duplication and once they are content with their thought of figures the magician looks at each spectator as if gazing into their mind and records a number on another unprepared slate that is then hidden from view. Once this is done the magician takes a slate (Al Baker's) and makes lines down the slate with a piece of chalk.

The first spectator is asked to whisper the thought of figure which is recorded upon the slate. In this manner all four numbers are recorded and the magician requests someone that is good at adding and carries the recorded numbers upon the slate to the person to add the numbers which is done with the total written by the spectator on the slate.

The magician goes back to each of the four spectators with the request they verify these numbers were the ones recorded earlier. The slate is then shown to the person who added to verify that the sum total was that answer written, which the spectator verifies. Going to the prediction that has been in full view it is shown to have been the one the magician correctly foretold!
