| Made by Douglas-Wayne Illusioneering and part of the Hoffmann Series. This handsome mahogany wood cabinet stands 11” high having a single drawer cabinet at the base and a chimney with clear glass front at the top. Also shown is a small drawer box, made of mahogany wood. A quarter coin is borrowed from a spectator and marked for identification later. The quarter is placed in the drawer of the base of the chimney unit and closed. The small drawer piece is placed atop the chimney and the magician walks away from the unit. In a moment the quarter is seen in the glass front of the chimney making an appearance at the bottom and it slowly rises up under its own power and vanishes when it reaches the top where a knock sound is heard! The magician reaches over with empty hand and removes the drawer that had been placed on the top and gives it a shake where a rattle is heard. Opening the drawer its contents are turned over into the hand and it is found to be the same quarter borrowed and marked a few moments ago! This is a lovely piece and of clever construction in mechanics to bring about this mysterious and baffling effect. This is hallmark stamped and includes 4 pages of instructions for performance. Condition tiny 1/4” wear at back edge, otherwise very fine as it doesn’t appear to have had use. | |
