Description

One of the more interesting pieces of Petrie Lewis that is mechanical by design and made of brass. After the magician extinguishes a candle and removes it from a beautiful brass candlestick he shows a glass and a handkerchief, throwing the handkerchief over the glass and placing it atop the candlestick he asks for the loan of a top hat (remember this trick wasn't made just yesterday we're going back several decades).

After showing the borrowed hat all around to be normal he places the hat crown down on top of the covered glass. Walking away from this the magician commands the glass to penetrate and slowly the hat is seen to sink down over the covered glass! Slowly it descends until finally the handkerchief is almost completely covering the brass candlestick.

The magician walks up and places his empty hand into the hat and slowly withdraws the glass! Removing the hat also in a slow and deliberate manner he shows that the hat is without damage and then he pulls away the handkerchief leaving the brass candlestick standing alone. This is quite an eerie effect to see presented and one that will certainly leave a lasting impression.

This is one of the finer Petrie Lewis pieces that is not to easy to come by. I am sure that there will be those that see a simple candlestick and not being personally shown will have no idea of the beauty of the mechanism built in and the self contained function of this beautiful and in my opinion marvelous piece of conjuring apparatus.

Includes glass and covering cloth (hat not included as any may be used). With exception of a few areas of lacquer absence that have allowed minor tarnish of brass this in perfect working condition and a very fine trademark stamped piece. This unit was released at a time when glass was not included. The glass in this case is a bonus and if you desire to use liquid in the effect you will need a cover of plex to fit the mouth of the glass. Includes instructions. Don’t pass this by.
