Circa 1950's by Abbott's. Standing 9 1/4" high this metal skeleton frame houlette will cause cards to rise one after another and at the completion of the effect the houlette and stand may be examined. The motive power for the rising of the cards is made so that it can be removed so that examination may take place.
The illustrated instructions state that the speed of the rise may be changed by a slight turn of a screw in the gimmick however that does not seem to slow the rather quick rise of the cards. The collar by which the removable houlette is held on to the base with upright column appears to have had a break and subsequent resolder repair.
Whether you are acquiring this to rise cards in performance or not it will sit nicely as a display or even work well for business cards as a holder. Condition very good.
