Description | |
With this you receive a glass bottle that has at one time been painted black along with two cylinders each having a removable lid with turned wood knob. Each of the cylinders has an opening beginning 2 1/4" from the bottom so that a finger pressure will retain within a sleeve of metal or bottle. One of the cylinders is a double wall in which a highly nickeled sleeve 3 3/4" in height is hidden also with this assembly is a matching height sleeve with bottom slightly smaller in diameter than the aforementioned sleeve. The single wall cylinder has a 4 1/2" metal sleeve painted black with much paint absence also of a diameter to sleeve over the bottle to a position just where the bottle begins its narrow contour. The construction or should I say the join on the nickeled metal is just as P&L would do in the finishing. This effect at one time belonged to a close friend of Thomas C. Worthington of Baltimore, Maryland and a magic company by the name of Horn's had finished a magical effect with this same style of green sponge finish also located in Baltimore, Maryland. Since there are no instructions the mystery lies in the routine and certain attribution of the maker. The owner had received several items from Mr. Worthington and this could have come from that friendship. The condition of this curiosity/mystery is very good. |
