The box is shown to have 3 upright brass rods and 3 obviously empty rings are shown and dropped one at a time over the rods. Three is a powerful number but the 3 rods and the 3 rings make 6 which has no magical power at all but adding one magician then you have the 7 the most magical number of all. Now items are produced from the stack of rings!
